| Mary Alice (Stone) Crall, age, 101, of Albia, died Sunday June 15, 2008, at the Monroe County Hospital (Hospice Room) in Albia, Iowa.
Mary was born December 20, 1906 in Marceline, Missouri to George L. and Johanna M. (Feehan) Stone. She married John Joseph Crall on December 31, 1929 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Iowa. Mary and John were members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for over fifty years and they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1979. John died October 15, 1983.
Mary was a homemaker and after moving to Albia she transferred her membership to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia and its Altar and Rosary Society. Mary loved to cook and she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Mary is survived by four children; Bernard G. Crall and wife Charlene of Albia, Mary Joanne Wasko and husband Mike of Glenwood, Iowa, Stephen A. Crall and wife Gloria of Moravia, Helen Marie Shepard and husband Kenneth of Albia: Sixteen grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by two sisters; Elizabeth (Bea) Lahart of Albia, and Helen O’Brien of Ottumwa.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, George and Johanna; her husband John Joseph; two sons and a daughters-in-law, John Joe and Olive Crall, and William and Helen Marie Crall; one granddaughter, Jean Anne Crall; four sisters, Catherine Ryan, Agnes Crall, Jo Comer, Margaret Besco; and one brother; George Stone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Thursday, June 19, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Rev. Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Georgetown.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, June 18th, at the Winfield Funeral Home, with the family present during the day and evening. A rosary service will be led by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society Wednesday at 4:00 P.M., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday evening.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of Monroe County. A memorial on behalf of Mary will be established by the family at a later date.
