Ash is a heavy, hard, strong, stiff wood that is also highly shock-resistant.
Its color ranges from nearly white (sapwood) to light brown to
pale yellow streaked with brown.
It's straight-grained with a coarse, even texture.

Ash is used to manufacture caskets, sporting equipment (e.g., baseball bats),
furniture, flooring, cabinetry, paneling, doors and other construction,
and is also particularly well-suited for food and liquid containers since
it has no taste or odor. |
