Ireton, IA – Dwayne Grau, 83, died suddenly Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at his residence. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center, IA. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton. Reverend Dan Kordahl will officiate. Viewing will begin 1 – 4 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home, Ireton and visitation with the family present from 7 – 9 p.m. at the church with the prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Dwayne Marlo Grau was born October 21, 1923 to Roger M. and Stella (Brown) Grau in Center Township, near Ireton. He attended Center Township Country School and continued his schooling at Ireton High School. Dwayne was united in marriage to Viola June Elizabeth Heuer on February 4, 1945 in rural Sioux Center. He was baptized and confirmed March 31, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church. Together the couple farmed from 1945 to 1978 when Dwayne retired. They remained on the farm where he was still actively involved in farming. Viola died October 4, 1999. Dwayne moved into Ireton in December, 2002. The family farm was “his life” for 78 of his 83 years. Dwayne “Duker” will be most remembered for his bib overalls, tipped ball cap and his one-finger wave.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his daughters: Paula (Duane “DK”) Koller of Sioux Falls, SD, Marsha “Marty” (Bobby) Driggers of Maurice, IA and Lori (Randy) Davis of Hawarden, IA; 5 grandchildren: Adam Muller, Mindee Muller, Heath Davis, Tiffany (Davis) Butler and Bobbie Sue Davis; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Wangen of Clive, IA; special friend, Myra Heuer of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; infant son, Barry Wayne; sister, Evelyn Imbrock; brothers-in-law: Fred Imbrock and Gordon Wangen.
