| Karen Kay (Dunkin) Ballalatak, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in Albia, Iowa. A visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, July 6th, at the Winfield Funeral Home with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. R.D. Streeter officiating.
Karen was born on October 26, 1946 in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Dale and Ruth Elizabeth (Manley) Dunkin. She attended Albia High School and graduate in the class of 1964. She married Dennis Ballalatak and to this union two daughters were born. Following high school, Karen was a homemaker; and a teachers aid for the Albia Schools. Karen enjoyed and followed NASCAR Racing and especially loved her children and grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her long-time companion Alan Hopkins of Albia; her two daughters, Denise (Tim) Ballalatak-Morgart and Cynthia (Matt) Hendrickson all of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Tristan, Karen-Lynn, and Duncan. Karen is also survived by her mother, Ruth Dunkin of Lovilia, Iowa; and one brother, Kevin (Judy) Dunkin of Columbia, Missouri.
Karen is preceded in death by her father, Robert Dunkin; and her son in infancy, Robert Michael Ballalatak.
