Lawrence Edvin Gravlund, son of Andrew and Hannah (Gangstad) Gravlund, was born May 13, 1908 in Palo Alto County, Iowa. He received his education in country school west of Emmetsburg.
Lawrence was united in marriage to Bernice Enger. After Bernice’s death Lawrence was later married to Dorothy Farlow. They made their home near Ayrshire where Lawrence farmed for many years. He raised hogs and calves as well as did grain farming. He was always proud of his accomplishments on the farm.
Lawrence farmed until his retirement in 1982 when he and Dorothy moved into Ayrshire. For the past four and a half years Lawrence resided at the Ruthven Community Care Center.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire.
Lawrence died Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Ruthven Community Care Center at the age of 100. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice; four sisters; and eight brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Ayrshire, IA; his step children, Barbara Bennett of South Dakota, Richard Farlow of Ayrshire, IA and Jerry Farlow of Maine; a special niece Diane Hagenson of Arizona; as well as many other relatives and friends.
