| |  | Chief Master Sgt. William H. Stewart, retired, 73, passed away, Friday, July 4, 2008 at his home.
Bill was born June 28, 1935 in Sugar Bush, WI the son of John and Florence Swanson Stewart.
He married Margaret A. Kaphingst, August 25, 1956 at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI.
Bill entered the United States Air Force in 1955 and retired in 1982 after 27 years of service as an Air Traffic Controller. After his military retirement, he worked for the Defense Mapping and Charting Agency in St. Louis, MO, then was owner and operator of Chick-Fil-A in Wichita, KS. After moving to Topeka he was owner and operator of the Chick-Fil-A in Westridge Mall. After his retirement in 1994, he worked for Builders Square and Lowe’s for 8 ˝ years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Stewart; son, William H. Stewart, Jr. (Lori); daughter, Barbara Stearman (Terry); daughter, Brenda Glaze (Ray); grandchildren,
Amy Blosser (John), Raymond Glaze III (Michelle), Samantha Singharath (Souriya), Tanner Stearman, Corey Glaze, Whitney Stewart, Catherine Glaze, and William H. Stewart III; sister, Melissa Parfitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy and sisters, Martha, Lucy and Ella.
Bill will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka, 66614, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn, Topeka. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, Parkinsons Foundation, Midland Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home.
