Richard Paul “Horsehide” Harper, 77, of Prattville Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2008 at Regency Hospital in Barberton, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving for 26 years and was a self employed truck driver. Richard was a Freemason, a Shriner and was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church of Montgomery, Alabama. He was a loving, devoted father and grandfather. He was lively and fun-spirited, much loved by all. He was born December 20, 1930 in Frame, W.Va to Everett and Cleo Harper. He married Bernice Maxine Jones in 1956. Bernice died in 1992. He was also preceded in death by a son, Benton Lee Hutson. Surviving: Loving wife: Pearl Pinkerton Harper Daughters: Joy Williams and husband Phillip of East Helena, Montana Paula Briceland and husband Tom of Dalton, Ohio Carla Harper of Killeen, Texas Step Daughters: Rhonda Ness and husband Wade of Green Bay, WI Lisa Brown and husband Jimmy of Evergreen, Alabama Brother: Billy Harper and wife Faye of Wooster, Ohio Sisters: Betty Melton and husband Billy Joe of Elkview Mary Jane Gay and husband Truman of Naples, Florida Grandchildren: Amanda, Rachel, Emily, Mary, Great Grandchildren: Tanner, Benjamin, and Lauren Step Grandchildren: Thomas, Nick, Billy, Kayla, Hope, Ashley, Austin, Lundi Step Great Grandchildren: Blake, Mackenzie, Natalie, and Aidyn Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shamblin officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery, Dutch Ridge. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the funeral home.
