|VIRGINIA BEACH - Moses Shelton Cocke, 78, of Clear Springs Road went home to be with the Lord February 16, 2008 with his family by his side. A native of Gretna, VA he was born on the 7th day of the 7th month in 1929 and was the 7th son of the late Thomas G. and Grace Shelton Cocke. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice and Ruth and five brothers, Carroll, Marshall, Henry, Harry and Claude. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Army with the 45th Division Infantry after which he married his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette J. Cocke. They moved to South Norfolk and he was employed at the Ford Motor Company, retiring as a supervisor after 33 years of service. He was a member of New Life Center, past master of the South Norfolk Masonic Lodge #339, and a member of Khedive Temple and the American Legion.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lynn Cocke of Virginia Beach and Paula Merritt and her husband, Jody of Chesapeake; two grandsons, Travis Merritt and Christian Merritt; a sister, Ethel Welborn of Sanford, Florida and a brother, Paul Cocke and his wife, Doris of Hurt, VA.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake with Pastor Roger Pettay. Entombment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
