|Sandra Marie Fox-Blackburn, known by everyone as San-Dee died following a brief illness on May 29,2003 in Charlottesville" Virginia surrounded by her husband and family.
San-Dee was an officer of Bank One, West Virginia, formerly Merchants and Miners National Bank. She began her successful banking career in August 1976. Her positions with the bank included Teller" Bookkeeper" Proof Operator" General Ledger Clerk, Operations Officer, Retail Education Training Officer and Developer and Relationship Banker. Her career leadership included serving as President of American Institute of Banking and member of Financial Women International. San-Dee was dedicated to the bank" her customers and her fellow coworkers.
Sandra Marie Fox was born October 23" 1956 in Oak Hill to Lena Falvo Fox and the late Sam Fox, Sr. San-Dee was a member ofSS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She grew up in Oak Hill and graduated from Collins High School in 1975. She also attended West Virginia University and West Virginia School of Banking at Marshall University. She received her Banking and Finance Degree from the College of West Virginia in 1991.
San-Dee was very community and civic minded and served the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce as President" Vice-President, Education and Membership Chair" Member of Partner in Education Program, Member of Work to School Program, Bridge Day Co- coordinator and Board Member to Allegheny County-New River Community Partners- American Heritage Rivers which was designated by President Clinton, Treasurer of Oak Hill Merchants Association; Chairman of the Oak Hill Christmas Parade; Member of Oak Hill Police Civil Service Commission; President of the Friends of the Lewis House, Inc.; Chairman of West Virginia Sports Festival; Volunteer for Fayette County Literacy Program" Volunteer for Fayette County Toy Fund; Volunteer for M&M Coat Fund and 2001 Nominee for Fayette County Woman of the Year. San-Dee was instrumental in establishing, organizing and restoring the Lewis House, a historic landmark in Oak Hill.
San-Dee is survived by her husband" Gary Blackburn; mother, Lena Fox of Oak Hill; one brother, Sam Fox, II" his wife Christine and their two children Adam Samuel and Sarah Kate of Charleston" West Virginia; one sister, Karen Fox Veazey, her husband John of Huntington, West Virginia and remaining family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, maternal Grandparents; Pietro and Marietta Falvo and paternal Grandparents; Raleigh and Effie Fox.
During San-Dee's life journey she touched many lives. She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by all that loved her. The family requests donations of sympathy be made to a memorial fund that has been established at Bank One. Monies received for the fund will be used to continue San-Dee's dreams for the community she loved and served and the restoration of the Lewis House as a museum for Oak Hill. Service will be 10:00 am on Monday, June 2 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father John P. McDonough officiating. Burial will following in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Friends may call from 6 to 9pm on Sunday, June 1 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. A prayer service will be held at 8:30 pm on Sunday.
Serving as Pallbearers are William Hannabass, John Janney, Tom Booth, Tom Stafford, Richard Taylor and Timothy Velie.
