Alta (Busek) Coultrip, age 87, of Wakeman, died Thursday morning at her home. She was born on June 11, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio and has lived in the Wakeman area since 1933. She was a 1939 graduate of Wakeman High School. She was a member of the Colorado Ranger Horse Association and the Appaloosa Horse Association as well as the Farm Bureau. Her passion was horses and she devoted her life to raising, breeding and showing horses. She participated in more than a dozen one-hundred mile trail rides in the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee. Alta loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed caning chairs.
She is survived by her two daughters Judy (Jerome) Swaggerty, of Penfield, and Pat Coultrip, of Wakeman, two grandchildren, Christopher (Chaz Vandergriff) Kiser, of Wakeman, and Melissa (Mike) Blaner, of Lagrange, two great-grandchildren, Jesse and Ben Dezso, of Lagrange, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lyle, her parents James and Corinne (Greulich) Busek, a sister LaVerne Busek, and a brother D. James Busek.
Friends may call on Saturday January 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Graveside services will be held the following Saturday February 7, at 11:00 am at Wakeman Cemetery. Pastor Chuck Livermore will be officiating.
