John Lorenzo Decious 75 of 4101 16th Ave. S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications due to a fall. Services, 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday in the chapel.

Surviving John are four children: Joan Forbes of Cedar Rapids, Julie Decious of Marion, Jane Decious of Cedar Rapids, and Jon (Liz) of Lisbon; seven grandchildren: Jessica, Kyle, Rebeka, Tiffany, Katelyn, Devyn, Chase; one great granddaughter MacKenzie; a brother Floyd and sister Clarice Ake both of Arizona.

Preceding John in death were his parents, a sister Doris Yates, a sister-in-law Myra Jane Decious, and a brother-in-law Harold “Hal” Ake.

John was born February 11, 1931 at Cedar Rapids, the son of Harry and Elsie Cave Decious. He married Gerry Seedorf in 1954. They were divorced. John farmed, did custom corn shelling, worked at Allis Chalmers and P&H Harnischfeger in Cedar Rapids, and Vislisel Trucking of Mount Vernon. John owned and operated J.D. Sandblasting of Lisbon. He was a member of CSC of Marion.

John loved woodworking, dancing, socializing, traveling, and racing. In recent years, John’s life centered around his friends at CSC.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in John’s honor has been established.
