Ruth A. Snyder, age 84, of Waterloo, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the Martin Health Care Center at the Western Home in Cedar Falls.

She was born July 16, 1926 in Randall, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Pierce) Marvets. Ruth was united in marriage with Harold Snyder on May 10, 1944 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in 1968.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of the Salvation Army since 1935, and served as a member of the Home League, recording secretary, visitation sergeant and as a teacher. She has been a member of V.F.W. Post 1623 Auxiliary since 1942.

Survivors include three sons, Donald (Patricia) Snyder of Peoria, IL, Larry (Connie) Snyder of Hudson, IA and Gary (Dorothy) Snyder of Mitchellville, IA; five daughters, Audrey (Clarence) Collis of Hazel Green, WI., Wanda (Danny) McKee of Waterloo, Ginger (Gary) Chilcote of Waterloo, Phyllis J. Eichmeier of Cameron, MO and Shirley (Tim) Schell of Waterloo; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Peggy) Marvets of Tripoli, IA and a sister, Donna Wilson (Junior Gates) of Waterloo;

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepson, David Snyder; four brothers, Virgil, Wayne, Walter and Barney and 2 sisters, Florence Murray and Phyllis Ohrt.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa 50703 (Inside the Garden of Memories Cemetery) with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010 and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at Garden View Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
