Marian L. Withrow

Loving Foster Mother

Marian (nee Lindberg) (Pattison) Withrow, age 84, of Tonawanda, formerly of Wheatfield, died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Jamestown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Seth and Mary Mae (nee Fee) Lindberg and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 20 years. Marian and her late husband, Benjamin, cared for more than 60 mentally and physically handicapped Niagara County Foster children during more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the Heart Parents Association of Buffalo Children's Hospital, the Shawnee Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary, and the Niagara County Foster Parents' Association. She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin J. Pattison, who died in 1983.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Withrow; her daughter, Cheryl (James) Ryan of Lockport; three sons, Jim (Jamie) Pattison of Tonawanda, Steve (Liz) Pattison of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and David (Teresa) Pattison of West Seneca; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and two special foster children, Scott Rutherford of Lockport, and Susan Beasock of Niagara Falls.

There is no visitation. Funeral services were cared for privately at the convenience of the family, followed by interment at Wheatfield Cemetery. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
