Terence Smith

Retiree Was Avid Golfer

Terence "Terry" Smith, age 77, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at his residence, after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, he was the son of the late William I. and Annie (nee Moran) Smith and had been a resident of the Town of Tonawanda for 49 years. Terence worked at Strippit-Houdaille for 40 years as a Business Computer Programmer, before retiring in 1996. Mr. Smith was an avid golfer and Red Sox fan, and enjoyed classical music and reading. He was the brother of the late James Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy (Nee Fleischman) Smith; six children, Judy A. (Michael) Killian of East Amherst, Margie A. (Jeff) Salada of Pendleton, Patricia A. (the late George) Smith of Grand Island, Michael T. (Carolyn) Smith of Wheatfield, Kenneth T. Smith of Tonawanda, and Daniel T. Smith of Tonawanda; and a brother, William Smith of Rochester. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Broad Street in Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
