Betty M. Barnard

Betty (nee Johnson) Barnard, age 72, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at her residence, after a long illness. Born in the Town of Alabama, New York, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel (nee Hale) Johnson, and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 45 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Barnard, whom she married in 1968; four daughters, Terry (Daniel) Mendoza of Hondo, Texas, Betty Nowatchik of Niagara Falls, NY, Sheri (Eric) Zillioux of Getzville, NY, and Amy (the late Andy) Pawlicki of Sloan, NY; three sons, Chester Nowatchik of Buffalo, NY, Kenny (Debbie) Nowatchik of Cheektowaga, NY, and Randy Barnard of Amherst, NY; two sisters, Eileen (the late Matthew) Sedzewski of Wheatfield, NY, and Elva (Mike) Cappabianca of Twinsburg, Ohio; and a brother, Kenneth (Polly) Johnson of Fontana, California. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, a great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 8 PM Tuesday; the Rev. Fred Beyer officiating. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at White Chapel Memorial Park, Town of Amherst. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family.
