Mary H. Abt

Lifelong resident of the Tonawandas

Mary (nee Clark) Abt, age 82, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, February 09, 2009, at her residence after a long illness. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jeanne (nee Ruf) Clark. Mary attended Buffalo State Teacher's College and traveled extensively with her husband, while he served in the U.S. Navy. She had been a resident of North Tonawanda since 1970.

Mary is survived by her husband, Irving T. Abt; three daughters, Carolyn (Tommy) Pimpinella of Lake Grove, Long Island, New York, Shirley (Tom) Cleere of Trumansburg, New York, and Beverly (Jerry) Moore of Raleigh, North Carolina; a son, David (Angela) Abt of North Tonawanda; a sister, Jeannie Fingerlow; and two brothers, Howard Clark and Donald Clark. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda, where a prayer service will be held at 8 PM Thursday; the Rev. Louis Dolinic officiating. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, New York. If desired, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380, or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094-1231, are preferred by the family.
