Leonard Kroll

Army Veteran of Korean War

Leonard Kroll, age 79, of Tonawanda, formerly of Amherst, died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 17, 2009 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in Sloan, New York, he was the son of the late Victor and Bernice (nee Groblewska) Kroll and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. A life member of the Knights of Columbus, Twin City Council No. 413 and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, he was the proprietor of Simpson Appliance and TV in Buffalo until retiring in 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (nee Speidel) Kroll; his son, Paul (Ann) Kroll of Tonawanda; his daughter, Kristine (Michael) Giliforte of Tonawanda; two brothers, Daniel (Janet) Kroll of Austin, Texas, and Alfred (Gertrude) Kroll of Tonawanda; and a sister, Delores (Frank) Szymkowiak of Cheektowaga. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Adam and Nicholas Kroll and Daniel and Nicole Giliforte, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Wednesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where services and military honors will be held at 6 PM Wednesday. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, New York.
