Gertrude O. Gardner
Member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish
Gertrude (nee Russell) Gardner, age 94, of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Byrnedale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (nee Kellogg) Russell. Mrs. Gardner had been a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda. She was the wife of the late Gerald F. Gardner, who died April 25, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Harold) Nelson of Lewiston, New York; three sons, Allan (Donna) Gardner of Tonawanda, New York, Gerald Gardner of Emporium, Pennsylvania, and John (Christine) Gardner of North Tonawanda, New York; two sisters, Eleanor Pearson of Emporium, Pennsylvania, and Anita Bowerson of York, New York; and a brother, George Russell of Olean, New York. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, January 10, at St. Francis Chapel on Adam street in Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited. If desired memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
