Michael C. Tylwalk, Sr.

Employed at Remington Rand and Tonawanda Schools

Michael C. Tylwalk, Sr., age 89, of Tonawanda, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Annie (nee Lepak) Tylwalk and was a Navy Veteran of WWII. A resident of Tonawanda for more than 65 years, Mr. Tylwalk was employed at the Remington Rand Plant in North Tonawanda for 35 years and then worked as a custodian for the Tonawanda School System for 8 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was the husband of the late Mary I. Tylwalk, who died December 28, 2002.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Debra) Tylwalk, Jr. of Williamsville, New York; his daughter, Karen (Richard) Volkmer of Warrensville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Tylwalk, III of Gilbert, Arizona, and Sonya Schaff of Brocton, New York; five great-grandchildren, Michael IV, Emily, Alexander, Rebecca and Dennis; and his sister Martha Tylwalk of Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM on Friday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. He will be placed to rest at the St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. If desired, memorials to the St. Francis School Endowment Fund, 73 Adam St., Tonawanda 14150 are preferred by the family.
