Pearl M. Kelly

Member of Tonawanda United Methodist Church

Pearl (nee Colter) Kelly, age 89, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice May (nee Green) Colter, Sr. and had been a resident of Tonawanda for almost 50 years. Mrs. Kelly was a faithful member of Tonawanda United Methodist Church where she was active in “Busy Fingers”, a member of the Tonawanda Senior Citizens, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union of New Jersey, and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star in New Jersey, and she supported more than 20 different charities all over the world. She was the wife of the late James P. Kelly, who died February 5, 1990.

She is survived by three sisters, Rose Byron of Bronx, NY, Elizabeth Baylor of Dublin, GA, and Constance Hampton of Lindenwold, NJ; a brother, Douglas W. Colter of Newark, NJ; a son, Craig Walker of Brooklyn, NY; and a grandson, Sheldon Walker. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 9:30-11 AM on Wednesday at Tonawanda United Methodist Church, 221 Morgan Street, Tonawanda where services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday. Friends invited. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson, New Jersey. If desired, memorials to be Buffalo City Mission Women’s and Children’s Shelter or Meals on Wheels are preferred by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Tonawanda.
