George E. Babcock

Avid Outdoorsman

George E. Babcock, age 67, of Pendleton, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Lester and Celia (nee Newton) Babcock and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. A resident of Pendleton for more than 40 years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and flying model airplanes, and was a huge fan of the Buffalo Sabres, the Buffalo Bills and horseracing. He was the brother of the late Richard Babcock.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia (nee Milosevic) Babcock; his son, George (Ashley Skubis) Babcock of Williamsville; his daughter, Theresa (Matthew) Ash of Middleport; a granddaughter, Jillian Rose; two brothers, Robert Babcock and Lester (Sandy) Babcock; and three sisters, Cora Champlin, June (David) Jackson and Barbara Babcock. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where services will be held at 10 AM Saturday; the Rev. Eric Roselund officiating. Friends invited. Interment at Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Town of Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 331 Alberta Drive, Suite 106, Amherst, NY 14226, are preferred by the family.
