Lena Ann Ventura

Will be remembered for her humor

Lena (nee Albanese) Ventura, age 81, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Beechwood Nursing Home, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (nee Varco) Albanese. She had resided in Kenmore, where she had been an active member at St. Paul R.C. Church and sang in the choir, before moving to the Town of Tonawanda. Mrs. Ventura was very fond of her many friends, and will always be remembered for her "joke book". She was the wife of the late Michael C. Ventura.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lora (Michael) Northen of Pennsauken, New Jersey and Paula (R. Matthew) Brach of South Bend, Indiana; her son, Michael (Beverly) Ventura of the Town of Tonawanda, New York; two sisters, Clara LaBelle of Grand Island, New York and Lucy (Joseph) Tomasulo of the Town of Tonawanda, New York; and a sister-in-law, Alice (late Charles) Albanese of Tonawanda, New York. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM Friday at St. Amelia R.C. Church on Eggert Road in the Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. Entombment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. If desired, memorials to Covenant House, Times Square Station, P.O. Box 731, New York, NY 10108-0900, or www.covenanthouse.org, are preferred by the family.
