Robert D. Bunts, Sr., age 80, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born September 4, 1924 in Olean, NY, he was the son of the late Rev. Rodney and Emma (nee Snyder) Bunts and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 50 years. An Army Veteran of WWII, Mr. Bunts was a supervisor at the DuPont plant in Niagara Falls and had been employed there for more than 33 years before retiring in 1983; he was a member of the DuPont 25 Year Club. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Amherst, where he had served as treasurer for more than 30 years, and was the husband of the late Mae (nee Tennant) Bunts, who died in 2003.

He is survived by five sons, Wayne Bunts, Thomas Bunts, William (the late Deborah) Bunts, Terry (Valerie) Bunts, and Robert (Dawn) Bunts, Jr.; four grandchildren, Katie, Ashley, Carrie, and Kristine; and a brother, Rodney (Betty) Bunts, Jr. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 8:30 PM Monday. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton. If desired, memorials to the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 765 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, NY 14226, are preferred by the family.
