Gloria Abbata

Gloria O. Abbata, age 73, of Apache Junction, AZ, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. She was a resident of Buffalo until moving to Florida in 1977 and had been employed as a manager at K-Mart before retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Aerie 2153, and the American Legion, George F. Lamm Post No. 622. She was the sister of the late Rita Vangilder and "Bootsie" Wolfe.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Carmello J. Abbata; three children, Sandra Demler (Sherry Desimone), Melanie (Darwin) Horton, and Nicholas (Michele) Abbata; a brother, Walter (Fran) Schiffmaker; a brother-in-law, Don Wolfe; and 6 grandchildren, Denise (Ron) Walker, Christine (Jimmy) Jones, Donna (James) Brunn, Darwin Horton, Jeremy (Sandra) Abbata, and Nicole Abbata. Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Brunn and Noelle Walker, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 10 AM - 2 PM Saturday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, the Rev. Paul Koehn officiating. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Niagara Falls. If desired, memorials to the American Legion, George F. Lamm Post No. 622 are preferred by the family. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Millard Hospital at Gate Circle.
