Rita E. Allman

Rita (nee Vanderbles) Allman, age 86, of Tonawanda, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary (nee OConnor) Vanderbles and had been a resident of Tonawanda for the past 60 years. A Senior Clerk at Erie County Department of Social Services before retiring, she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Parents Without Partners, and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was the wife of the late John C. Allman, who died in 1976, and mother of the late John Allman, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia A. Allman; two sons, Joseph (Kathleen) Allman and Martin T. Allman; and three grandchildren, Michelle (William) Kelleher, Timothy Allman and Michael Allman. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 10 AM Friday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to St. Francis Church, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
