Jerome Benjamin
Volunteer at VA Medical Center in Buffalo
Jerome Benjamin, age 87, of the Town of Tonawanda, formerly of Manhattan, died Sunday, October 7, 2007, at the VA Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Louis and Mathilda (nee Pomerantz) Benjamin and had been a resident of Manhattan for the greater part of his life before moving to Pembroke Pines, Florida, after retiring. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, and had worked as a salesman for Corners Distributors in the Bronx, before retiring. Mr. Benjamin moved to the Town of Tonawanda about a year ago to live with his son, and was an active and well known volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo. He was the husband of the late Frances (nee Kreis) Benjamin.
He is survived by his son, Alan (Nancy) Benjamin of the Town of Tonawanda; his daughter, Carol (Harold) Benjamin-Solomon of New York City; and three grandchildren, Dana L. Benjamin, Michael D. Benjamin and Douglas Hanania.
There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the VA Medical Center Chapel on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo. Interment will be cared for privately at Beth Moses Cemetery, Long Island. If desired, memorials to the Buffalo VA Medical Center Volunteer Services, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215, are preferred. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, New York.
