THOMAS SCHWENKER,
Mr. Tom Schwenker, age 66 years of Nicolet Drive in Green Bay, formerly of Port Washington, died Thursday afternoon, February 14, 2008 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born February 5, 1942 in Port Washington, the son of Frederick and Katheryn Gahan Schwenker. Tom entered the United States Navy in 1961. He served during the Cold War and in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1964. On October 23, 1965 he married Marilyn Thelen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. After moving to Green Bay, they became members of Holy Cross Parish in Green Bay. Tom was a member of the Kiwanis Club and American Legion Post 82. He was an artist and did many wood carvings as well as pen and ink drawings. Tom enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and playing cribbage and sheepshead with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Green Bay, three children: Chad (Kristin) Schwenker of Delafield, Marni Schwenker of Pewaukee and Robb Schwenker of Milwaukee, three granddaughters: Paige, Kate and Emma Schwenker of Delafield. He is further survived by three sisters: Anabel (Al) Krier of Palm Coast, FL, Beth (Tom) Schueller of Kohler and Maizie (Martin) Penkwitz of Houston, TX, mother-in-law Dorothy Thelen of Green Bay, brother-in-law Brian Thelen of Genesee, close friends, Dave “Gup” (Mary) Van Gompel of Green Bay, Larry (Natalie) Durben of Beloit and Karl (Liz) Johansson of Green Bay, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 19, 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 430 N. Johnson St. in Port Washington. Father Tom Lijewski will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the CHURCH Tuesday from 9:30 – 11 AM. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
