Eldon R. Emmick Sr., 73, 12633 B Indigo Ave, Clear Lake, IA, died Tuesday April 25, 2006 at his home. A Memorial service will be held Saturday 1:00 PM at the Church of Christ, 2010 14th Ave N., Clear Lake, IA, with Rev. Jim Allard and Rev. Alan Sheldon officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 28, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Eldon Emmick Sr. Memorial Fund.
Eldon was born September 16, 1932 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Robert Lee and Pearl Hazel (Pendelton) Emmick. He was raised on a family farm in Anthon, Iowa, with his grandmother Eimly Katherine Grabarski. He worked for Nutrina Feed in Sioux City, then with the Sioux City Fire Dept. from 1958 – 1963. He married Ruby Gray Oct. 31, 1950 at Elk Point, SD. He did construction in LeMars. They moved to Clear Lake in 1977. Ruby died Oct. 26, 1980. Eldon married Virginia “Ginny” Bowman Sept. 5, 1981 in Onawa, IA. He later has worked at Opportunity Village.
Eldon loved hunting, fishing and was a history buff. He also enjoyed woodworking. Eldon was a member of the Church of Christ in Clear Lake, IA
Eldon is survived by his wife Ginny Emmick, Clear Lake, IA; children Raye Emmick and his wife Denice, Jefferson, IA, Mary Butler and her husband Larry, Des Moines, IA, Marlene Emmick, Onawa, IA, Eldon Emmick and his wife Tatya, Milo, IA, Bill Bird and his wife Triscia, Leigh IA and Steve Bird, Onawa, IA; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ruby and brother Virgil Emmick.
