Freedom

Lloyd E. Glatz, age 79, of Freedom passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at home with his family by his side. He was born March 28, 1930 in Shiocton to the late Edwin and Anna (Young) Glatz.

Following his graduation from Shiocton High School in 1949 he entered the US Army during the Korean War. On May 28, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart Rosie Young and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage.

Lloyd worked at the Kimberly Paper Mill for 43 years before retiring in 1993. He also farmed in Nichols for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing sheepshead, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events but most of all he loved time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. Lloyd was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie, their five children: Sue (Dan) Moericke, DePere; Barb (Jack) Van Eperen, Freedom; Randy (Karen) Glatz, Black Creek; Kathy (Joel) Swedberg, Appleton; Wayne (Sharon) Glatz, Freedom; ten grandchildren: Bobby Jo Lade, Rick Moericke, Stacy Gowey, Nick Glatz, Sarah Wanta, Thomas Glatz, Amanda Swedberg, Travis Swedberg, Kevin Glatz and Amber Glatz; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Roland Glatz, Shiocton; sisters-in-law: Mildred Stingle, Bernice (Ronnie) Young, Marcy (Jim) Freimuth, Audrey Glatz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Tom Glatz, two brothers Merlin and Melvin, father-in-law and mother-in-law Theodore and Anna Marie Young, brothers-in-law James Young and Dennis Stingle, sister-in-law Carol Young.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 4 PM until 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Father Dave Hoffman officiating. Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Black Creek. Military Rites will follow at the cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com.

Thanks for all the memories Dad. You were a wonderful husband, Dad and Grandpa, you will be forever in our hearts.
