Sharon "Elaine" Leadmon of Saint Albans departed this life to be with the Lord and her loved ones on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Thomas Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Her family wishes to thank the hospital staff for the compassionate and professional care given to Elaine.

Born on July 5, 1947, Elaine was the daughter of the late James and Pearl McCormick. She was a former cook at Seventeen Restaurant, and a homemaker who loved to dote on her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She and her generous spirit will be deeply missed by those who had to let her go, but the many precious memories of Elaine will continue to live on.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Leadmon, and two brothers, Ballard McCormick and Vincent McCormick.

Elaine is survived by her son, Gary Neal McCormick; daughter-in-law, Tina Journey; step- daughter, Kay Holstein and her husband, Carl, and step-son, Homer Leadmon; sisters, Marsha Dunlap and her husband, David, Vickie Walker and her husband, Ron, Malesha Hatfield, and Ana Guthrie and her husband, Bobby. Her many loving grandchildren are Ashley McCune, Kim Leadmon and her husband, Mike, David Holstein and his wife, Teresa, Tammy Holstein and her fiance, Rick Byrd, Scott Holstein and his companion, Alisha Burkhart, and Karla Leadmon. Great-grandchildren are Corey Leadmon, Caleb Childress, Hart Childress, Sara Childress, Elias Ghareeb, Ziad Ghareeb, Makayla Holstein, Kimberlee Holstein, Cheyenne Leadmon, Memphis Scarberry and Hunter Holstein. Elaine also has numerous nieces, nephews and close friends who will miss her deeply.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, Saint Albans.

Family and friends may begin visiting one hour prior to the service.
