What determines the color of cremated remains?

The color of human cremated remains can very from white to nearly black and can be colored in greens, red and grays depending on the machine used to do the cremation, other material cremated at the same time like the cremation container and then the temperature and the length of time of the cremation as the longer the cremation time the more complete the process and there is less other chemicals still present in the remains. - Jack Springer
