Mrs. Julia R. (Czubryt) Truskowski, 79, of 6 Meadow Lane, Adams, died Thursday morning at her home.
She was born in Adams on April 30, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Kotry) Czubryt, and attended Adams schools.
Mrs. Truskowski owned and operated the former Julie’s Variety Store on Summer Street in Adams for several years, until retiring in 1977. Earlier, she had worked at the former Central Market in North Adams, the former First National Store and the former Casey’s Market, both in Adams. She first worked at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 10 years.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams.
She enjoyed cooking, dancing and Polish music, and at one time had written lyrics for the Happy Louie Polka Band. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Her husband, Joseph F. Truskowski, whom she married on July 6, 1946, died on June 20, 2000.
She is survived by 1 son – Joseph F. Truskowski, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of North Adams;
1 Daughter – Mary Zabek and her husband, Robert, of Shelton, CT;
4 Grandchildren – Jeffrey Truskowski of Butler, N.J. , Brian Truskowski of North Adams; and Kevin Zabek and Lisa Zabek, both of Shelton, CT; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers- John, Vincent, Karol, Casimer, Matthew, George and Frank Czubryt I and Frank Czubryt II; and her sisters – Catherine Rysz, Minnie Les, Mary Czubryt and Julia Czubryt.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 9:00 AM from the Auge`-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, the Adams Ambulance Service, or the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
